FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about the RaiseMe and Penn State University Commonwealth Campus Transfer Program

Can I meet with a Penn State Commonwealth campus advisers/admissions staff before I apply and transfer?

Yes! We encourage you to contact a Transfer Admissions Counselor at your local Penn State campus. We will assist you to develop both an academic and financial plan to ensure a smooth transition. And you can earn micro-scholarships for meeting with us!

Can I really redeem these micro-scholarships?

Yes! We partnered with RaiseMe to allow students to track their progress towards scholarships earlier and to help you understand what actions you can take while attending Community College to be a strong candidate for admission to a Penn State Commonwealth campus. If you apply, are admitted, and enroll at one of our 19 Commonwealth campuses, your micro-scholarships will automatically be included in your financial aid award.

Is there a campus and/or program to which I should apply to increase the likelihood of receiving the award?

Students who create a RaiseMe Profile, follow Penn State, and meet the eligibility guidelines will receive the award, regardless of the Commonwealth campus or academic program to which they have applied.

Is there a GPA required?

Yes, students must earn a cumulative grade-point average of 2.8 at the PA Community College from which they are transferring to be eligible for a Penn State RaiseMe award.

How will Penn State determine if I am a low-income student?
Low-income status is based on the total family income you report on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
How do I connect with RaiseMe while I am enrolled at a Pennsylvania community college?

Students must follow Penn State on Raise via www.raise.me or via Penn State’s partner join page at www.raise.me/join/psu-commonwealth. Eligibility requirements are listed on Penn State’s RaiseMe college profile. You can automatically begin to earn micro-scholarships from our program for your grades, extracurricular activities, community service, and other activities. Be sure to select your campus of interest to earn your first micro-scholarship so we can connect to support you!

If I earn micro-scholarships from Penn State on RaiseMe, does this mean I am guaranteed admission?

Is this award available to students admitted to Penn State University Park? Or World Campus?
